Dr. Reza Keshmiri ventured more than 4,000 miles from his Hagerstown dental office for a humanitarian trip that took him far out of his comfort zone.
The trip, part of Kool Doctors Giving Back, was an eye opener for Keshmiri, who is a dentist with Kool Smiles on Wesel Boulevard.
He saw many people in their 20s with no teeth and wondered how they survived.
One 8-year-old patient walked three hours with his mother and waited in line for eight hours before he was treated at the makeshift clinic that was set up with portable equipment in an elementary school in a rural village in western Bolivia.
