Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne is the 5th largest public university in Indiana, and calls Fort Wayne its home. The city's private universities include Concordia Theological Seminary, Indiana Institute of Technology, and the University of Saint Francis.
In 2009, Fort Wayne adopted a comprehensive plan called Bike Fort Wayne. The plan was a response to residents' love and use of the Rivergreenway, a 70 mile biking and walking pathway throughout the city and county. With convenient bike lanes and over 250 bike specified parking spaces, the League of American Bicyclists rated the city at a bronze level for safety and encouragement of residents to use biking as a mode of transportation and recreation.
Fort Wayne has redefined parks with over 80 public parks, including 3 public golf courses. Totalling 316.4 acres, Franke Park is the city's most extensive layout, and houses the Foellinger Theatre, Shoaff Lake and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. Another favorite is the Johnny Appleseed Park - the final resting place of America's beloved Johnny Appleseed.
Fort Wayne's Festival's are one of the city's biggest attractions. They celebrate history, culture, tradition and mouthwatering food. Resident favorites include BBQ RibFest, Busker Fest, Greek Festival, Johnny Appleseed Festival and the Three Rivers Festival, a 9 day festival drawing crowds numbering close to 400,000!
Built in 1928 as a movie theatre, the Embassy Theatre takes you back in time with its original awning and lighting design. Now, it spends its days as a 2,471 seat performing arts center that showcases concert tours, Broadway musicals, and lectures to over 200,000 visitors annually.

At the end of each day, everyone at Kool Smiles knows they've accomplished something that matters—something that makes a difference in the world—a positive change in the lives of children and their families.
Having the right dentist makes all the difference in the world. Our dentists share a common bond: they are passionate about providing quality dental care to families. All of our dentists go through Kool Smiles training upon hire and continue to receive company sponsored continuing education. Many of our dentists are active in both local, regional, or state dental associations, serve on Medicaid advisory boards, and participate in national associations such as American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Kool Smiles is committed to expanding access to quality dentistry and oral healthcare services in underserved communities.
Lack of healthcare coverage, or being enrolled in the Medicaid program, should not undermine an individual’s access to vital dental services.
80% of the nation’s 179,000 practicing dentists refuse to provide care to Medicaid enrollees.
We’ve partnered extensively with local schools, daycares and community organizations to provide much-needed oral health screenings and supplies, free of charge. In 2012 alone, Kool Smiles provided over $18.5 million in dental services to children with no form of payment for those procedures, simply because it was in the best interest of the children and their health.
In addition to strong clinical oversight, Kool Smiles has implemented an advanced electronic health records (EHR) system that is used in every Kool Smiles office across the country to measure and report on clinical compliance. The system is closely monitored by our dental clinical leaders to assure all dentists are in compliance with professional standards as well as ADA and AAPD guidelines.
