The largest city in the state of Mississippi is named after Andrew Jackson, and carries the pride of the former US President to this day. You can feel the culture in Jackson-- with blues, gospel and jazz music filling the air. Culture doesn't stop at music, though. Indulge in a "down-home" southern-style meal in a neighborhood cafe. Everywhere you turn, you'll be treated as family in this friendly city of the south.
Experience the lights, colors and sounds of Jackson any time of year. Learn the history behind blues at The Mississippi Blues Trail, or catch the real thing at an urban blues "juke joint." If classic is more your style, The Mississippi Symphony offers year-round concerts at local venues. Art galleries showcase the creativity of the south, such as Mississippi Museum of Art, which includes the world's largest collection expressing Mississippians and their culturally diverse heritage.
Jackson is a melting pot of southern styles and flavors--drawing from tables around the world that have found a home in Mississippi. Southern cooking is at its finest in Jackson, and most restaurants host live music during the week. Visit Hal & Mal's, a family-owned business in downtown Jackson, serving a steady offering of hearty regional stapes with a hint of New Orleans and cuisine inspired by the Gulf of Mexico.
Don't waste the day down in Jackson. The city offers plenty of spots to take the whole family out for fun. Believe it or not, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is among the Top 10 "Most Amazing Baseball Museums in America" by ESPN. If sports aren't exciting to the kiddos, let them take a walk on the wild side at Jackson Zoological Park, hit up the Mississippi Children's Museum, or learn the wonders of nature at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
Explore The Jackson Mississippi Blues Trail and experience the history and culture of blues in the south. Jackson has more markers on this trail than any other city in the state. Along this trail you can learn about the Farish Street Sound, Pioneer Recording studios, and famous artists who got their start here.

Having the right dentist makes all the difference in the world. Our dentists share a common bond: they are passionate about providing quality dental care to families. All of our dentists go through Kool Smiles training upon hire and continue to receive company sponsored continuing education. Many of our dentists are active in both local, regional, or state dental associations, serve on Medicaid advisory boards, and participate in national associations such as American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Kool Smiles is committed to expanding access to quality dentistry and oral healthcare services in underserved communities.
Lack of healthcare coverage, or being enrolled in the Medicaid program, should not undermine an individual’s access to vital dental services.
80% of the nation’s 179,000 practicing dentists refuse to provide care to Medicaid enrollees.
We’ve partnered extensively with local schools, daycares and community organizations to provide much-needed oral health screenings and supplies, free of charge. In 2012 alone, Kool Smiles provided over $18.5 million in dental services to children with no form of payment for those procedures, simply because it was in the best interest of the children and their health.
In addition to strong clinical oversight, Kool Smiles has implemented an advanced electronic health records (EHR) system that is used in every Kool Smiles office across the country to measure and report on clinical compliance. The system is closely monitored by our dental clinical leaders to assure all dentists are in compliance with professional standards as well as ADA and AAPD guidelines.
